Greece to Ukraine: Bridging the Digital Fashion Gap with 3D4U!
We are proud to highlight the successful completion of an intensive capacity-building five days training, hosted by the Department of Creative Design & Clothing at the International Hellenic University (IHU)! As the lead coordinator of the 3D4U (3D Concepts for Fashion Education in Ukraine) project, IHU welcomed 12 academics for a transformative educational experience at our Kilkis and Thermi campuses.
Distinguished Institutional Support
The importance of this international collaboration was underscored by official university leadership:
- A Warm Welcome: On the first day, the academics were welcomed by the Dean of the Design Sciences School, Prof. Danis Kotzaivazoglou.
- A Final Salute: On the concluding day of the training, the group was saluted by the Vice-Rector of International Affairs, Prof. Konstantinos Diamantaras, marking the successful end of their visit.
Empowering Our Ukrainian Partners
We were honored to host teachers and researchers from our partner institutions:
- Kyiv National University of Technology and Design (KNUTD)
- Lutsk National Technical University (LNTU)
- Khmelnytskyi National University (KhNU)
Training & Innovation: Mastering 3D & AI tools
- The training focused on the Browzwear 3D CAD system, a leading industry tool for digital design and virtual prototyping. The curriculum included:
- 3D CAD for Basic Fashion Prototyping: Establishing the foundations of digital garment construction.
- Advanced 3D CAD & AI Integration: Exploring high-level prototyping and how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the design cycle.
Local Impact: The skills gained will directly support the development of 3D Hubs created in Kyiv, Lutsk, and Khmelnytskyi as part of the 3D4U project.
- 3D CAD for Basic Fashion Prototyping: Establishing the foundations of digital garment construction.
- Advanced 3D CAD & AI Integration: Exploring high-level prototyping and how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the design cycle.
From Theory to Industry
To see these digital concepts in practice, participants engaged in three exclusive industrial visits:
- DMiss: Insights into high-volume clothing manufacturing and global exporting.
- cutcuutur: Experience with a brand specialized in innovative Laser Cut products.
- Colora: A deep dive into the operations of a professional textile dyeing and printing factory.
Supported by the European Union, this initiative is a major step forward in modernizing fashion education and providing international technical assistance to Ukraine’s clothing industry.
