External Funding Opportunities

The Union of Greek Shipowners grants +100 scholarships for postgraduate studies of a pre-doctorate level in Greece and abroad for the academic year of 2024-2025. Please note that the deadline for the submission of applications is April 25, 2024.

The MA in “Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean Studies: Culture and International Relations” and Efxeinos Leschi of Thessaloniki announce the “Anna Theophylaktou” and “Charalampos Kianchidis” scholarships for the academic year 2023-2024 providing full fee coverage for candidates who hold a university degree (written evidence from the graduating University is required) and who are interested in pursuing their dissertation in subjects concerning Hellenism in the Black Sea Countries. Interested candidates need to indicate on their application form (section: FUNDING ARRANGEMENTS, p. 4) which scholarship they are applying for (only one of the two is permissible per application).

In case the total applications’ number exceeds the number of the available scholarships, candidates will be shortlisted by the school based on academic criteria and, if required, by an interview by members of its faculty staff.
To be eligible for the scholarship, you need to provide evidence of a first class bachelor degree or an official document from the School that you have been among the top 5% of the graduates of your class.

The MA in “Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean Studies: Culture and International Relations” and the Pampondian Federation of Greece announce the “Sevastos Kyminitis scholarship” for the academic year 2023-2024 providing full fee coverage for candidates who hold a university degree (written evidence from the graduating University is required). The scholarship is intended to support students who are interested in pursuing their dissertation in subjects concerning Pontian Hellenism. Candidates, who are (or were in the past) members of student Pontian Associations, or members of Associations of the Pampondian Federation of Greece, or members of Associations of Pontian Federations from abroad have an advantage. Such candidates are required to procure a certification of membership from their respective association to accompany their application and need to state in the application form (section: FUNDING ARRANGEMENTS, p. 4) that they apply for the scholarship.

In case the total applications’ number exceeds the number of the available scholarships, candidates will be shortlisted by the school based on academic criteria (grade of 1st degree) and, if required, by an interview by members of its faculty staff.

The School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Economics offers partial-scholarships to exceptional prospective students.

To be eligible for the scholarship, you need to provide evidence of academic excellence such as a first class bachelor degree or an official document from the School that you have been among the top 5% of the graduates of your class.

The School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Economics offers tuition fee exemption to students (Greek citizens) who hold a first class honours undergraduate degree (7.5/10 and above for degrees awarded from a Greek University), and according to specific socio-economic criteria, in accordance with Law 4957/2022.
Candidates should submit their request for tuition fee exemption following their registration in the postgraduate programme. The School will inform them as regards the procedure to be followed.

The School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Economics offers:

  • 20% discount to IHU students or IHU graduates of the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Economics, or of other School of the University Center of International Programmes of Studies (UCIPS), who decide to attend a second postgraduate programme of the School.
  • 10% discount to IHU students who are studying at the same time and are second-degree relatives (siblings). The discount is granted to both students.

Furthermore, the UCIPS offers financial assistance to incoming students in the form of tuition fee reductions.
These scholarships are competitive. Award criteria include the quality of the first degree, the undergraduate grades of the candidate, his/her command of the English language and overall profile. Candidates for scholarships should submit their scholarship request following the receipt of their acceptance letter from the UCIPS.
