The President of the International Hellenic University, Professor em. Dr Athanassios Kaissis, at the Thessaloniki Helexpo Forum Panel on Digital Justice

On Friday 11 September 2020, in the context of Thessaloniki Helexpo Forum a panel on Digital Justice took place. The President of the Governing Board of the International Hellenic University, Professor em. Dr Athanassios Kaissis, was among the speakers of the panel, along with the Minister of Justice, Mr Konstantinos Tsiaras, Former Ministers of Justice, Mr Michalis Kalogirou and Mr Haris Kastanidis, the President of the Thessaloniki Bar Association, Mr Efstathios Koutsochinas and the President of the Court of Appeals, Mr Christodoulos Kirtsidis.

In his speech, Professor Kaissis remarked that lawyers are lagging when it comes to embracing digital technologies. He stressed that until now sustainable content technologies do not present problems and are highly appreciated. According to Professor Kaissis what should cause concern are disruptive technologies, such as blockchain, smart contracts etc.. He concluded that concerning this issue a serious effort should be made in safeguarding the legal profession and at the same time keeping a high digital level.
