Bringing Circular Economy and Bioeconomy: Global perspectives from Vietnam and Europe

Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh is a lecturer in the Department of Economics of Social Issues, Faculty of Political Economy. The lecturer has been working at the University of Economics – VNU since 2020 and has more than 08 years of experience working in the field of education. As of 2023, the lecturer has 12 scientific publications, of which 6 are in ISI journals. In addition to teaching and researching at the University of Economics – VNU, the lecturer has experience teaching international programs such as A-level Cambridge, and Troy University; and participating in domestic and international development cooperation activities of St. Francis University (USA).

Dr. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thuy, lecturer of the Faculty of Political Economy, has been working at the University of Economics since April 2024. With in-depth training in economic management, public policy, etc., MSc. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thuy has been involved in research and working in the field of education for nearly 20 years before joining the University of Economics.

Dr. George Sakellaris is the coordinator of BIOEAST HUB CZ and a leading expert in bioeconomy strategy and education in Central and Eastern Europe. He is affiliated with the Czech Academy of Sciences, serving as head of international cooperation in research and innovation. Dr. Sakellaris manages major EU projects such as BIObec and BIOEASTsUP, and leads the BIOEAST Thematic Working Group on Bioeconomy Education. With a strong background in research management and international collaboration, he is recognized for advancing circular bioeconomy initiatives and fostering partnerships between academia, industry, and policymakers.

Dr. Petros Samaras is Professor of Water Technology and Environmental Protection at the International Hellenic University, where he directs the Laboratory of Technologies for Environmental Protection and Utilization of Food Byproducts. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Thessaloniki. His expertise includes water and wastewater treatment, nutrient removal, and energy recovery from byproducts. He has led or participated in over 40 research projects, published more than 130 journal articles, and holds two EU patents. Dr. Samaras is also active as a reviewer and participant in European research networks related to environmental technologies
