The aim of the course is to offer an introduction to biomimicry, offering an overview of the theory and applications. It involves the study of natural systems to extract intelligent engineering and design principles. The course will present and analyse successful examples of biomimetic principles in contemporary design aspiring to motivate students to look at nature for inspiration and innovation. The students will gain exposure to cutting edge research in the fields of engineering and technology, they will learn about current developments and innovations related to product design and will establish new methodologies for design research inspired by nature.
