Advanced Surface Modelling

Teaching Hours and Credit Allocation: 16 Hours, 3 Credits

Course Assessment: Exam & Coursework

Surface modelling is central to the Computer-Aided Industrial Design (CAID) process. It is used from the early stages of the design process, in the conception of the product design, and to build and define the product, using accurate and highly detailed sketches, curves and surfaces. The course will enable students to work efficiently using three-dimensional curve and surface modelling tools during the design process. There are various methodologies for creating three dimensional sketches and surfaces and the student will be able to independently choose the appropriate modelling approach in order to develop different product configurations and place them in their working environment in order to be able to communicate the final design using visualizations.
