Course Assessment: Exam & Coursework

This course aims at introducing Design Thinking as a means of generating insights and solutions and designing creative solutions for multi-layered problems. Design thinking generates critical inquiry through design work and is an essential component during the process of designing new products, services, or experiences.

Rather than moving in a linear way from principles to applications, design-thinking is a design-based interdisciplinary process, where principles and applications, theory and practice, occupy the same creative milieu bringing in expressive and systematic tools in the research process.

Through research-by-design and complementary presentations and discussions, this course, aims at providing the necessary method of introducing design-thinking as an intrinsic part of the creative process.

The students are asked to work alone and in groups at different stages of the course. Collaboration, critical and creative thinking, and peer-assessment are essential components of the course.

The course grade is a combination of Project Assignment (50%) and Exams (50%).
