Professor Dimitrios Psillos

Professor Georgios Tsirigotis
Dean of the School of Science and Technology of the University Center of International Programmes of Studies of the IHU
Professor Georgios Tsirigotis is a graduate of the Department “Electronique Electrotechnique Automatique” of the University of Clermont Auvergne (formerly Blaise Pascal) in France, where he also completed his postgraduate studies (DEA: Composants and Systems), as well as his Phd Thesis on “Automaton control with vocal information”.
He has been working at the former Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Institute of Technology (nowadays, International Hellenic University) since 1986. He worked at the Department of Electrical Engineering, and from 2014 onwards in the Department of Computer Engineering, where he teaches Scientific Computing, Neural Networks, Signals and Systems and Control Systems.
He has taught as Visiting Professor at many European Universities.
He has published 40 research papers in international scientific journals and conferences. His research activity focuses on the areas of Control Systems, Robotics, Human Machine Interface, Philosophy of Science, Neural Networks and Epistemology.

Professor Stergios Leventis
Dean of the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Economics of the University Center of International Programmes of Studies of the IHU
Stergios Leventis is an Associate Professor in Accounting and the Dean of the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Economics of the University Center of International Programmes of Studies of the IHU. Before joining IHU, Stergios worked as an accounting consultant. He gained an MSc from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, and a PhD from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. His research focus is on accounting disclosure and quality, auditing, banking and corporate social responsibility. He has published work in a number of international scientific journals. Many of his articles in professional periodicals have focused on the International Financial Reporting Standards. Stergios is an associate editor of the British Accounting Review (BAR) and he serves on the editorial boards of international journals such as Accounting and Business Research (ABR), Corporate Governance: An International Review (CGIR) and the Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation (JIAAT). Professor Evangelos Christou
Dean of the School of Business Administration and Economics
Evangelos Christou is Professor of Tourism Marketing and Dean of the School of Economics & Business. He is also Director of the Master Program in Tourism Management at International Hellenic University, in Greece.
He has a Doctorate in Heritage Tourism Marketing from Aberystwyth University in the United Kingdom and a Master’s in Business Administration from the same university, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from Leicester University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management from Anglia Ruskin University. He is a Chartered Marketer and his research interests include tourism and hospitality marketing, destination branding, wine tourism, culture and heritage tourism, e-marketing and tourism education.
He was a faculty member at the University of the Aegean in Greece, and he has long teaching experience both in Greece (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Democritus University of Thrace, Hellenic Open University and the National School of Public Administration) and abroad (University of Bolzano in Italy, Universite de Lyon ΙΙΙ and Institut Paul Bocuse in France, and National Chia-Yi University in Taiwan, among others).
His published work includes over 150 refereed papers in scientific journals and conferences, 3 books, 4 monographs, and 14 chapters in edited books. His publications have received over 2.600 citations and his i10-index is 48. He is Editor-in-Chief of the “Journal Tourism, Heritage & Services Marketing” and he has participated in over 30 national and international research projects related to tourism. He has received awards by the United Nations’ World Tourism Organization, as well as the EuroCHRIE’s Life-Achievement award.
Evangelos Christou has extensive professional experience as marketing executive and consultant in the tourism industry in Greece and in the United Kingdom. He has served as President of the European Council on Hospitality & Tourism Education, and as an expert of the European Training Foundation of the European Commission. He has been keynote or invited speaker to more than 30 international conferences.

Professor Konstantinos David
Member of the Governing Board of the IHU
Constantinos David is Professor of Manufacturing Engineering at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Engineering School at International Hellenic University. He is the Director of the Manufacturing Technology Laboratory (MTlab) of the same Department since 2015. He is a member of the Governing Board and member of the Research Committee of the above University. In the past, he served as Dean of the School of Engineering, as well as Vice-Rector at the Central Macedonia University of Applied Sciences. He was Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Western Macedonia University (P.D. 407/80). He holds a BSc & MSc in Mechanical Engineering (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece), and PhD in Manufacturing Engineering (University of Kaiserslautern, Germany). He has long teaching experience in postgraduate study programmes. He taught courses in Summer School in Advanced Composite Materials organized by the International Institute for Multifunctional Materials for Energy Conversion (IIMEC). His research interest and published work (over 120 papers and book chapters) are in the area of Manufacturing Technologies, Machining Processes, CAD/CAM/CAE, Reverse Engineering, Rapid Prototyping, Materials Testing & Characterization, as well as in some interdisciplinary topics of Energy Systems. He is also a member of the Editorial board in several international journals, and member of the Advisory Boards of International Conferences. He has been coordinator and/or participant in more than 40 National and EU funded research and development projects. Furthermore, he has implemented numerous industrial projects that have been funded by national and European companies.

Professor Dimosthenis Stamatis
Demosthenes Stamatis is a Professor at the Department of Informatics and Electronic Engineering, of the International Hellenic University.
He holds a B.Sc. degree in Mathematics from the University of Ioannina (1981) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science-Artificial Intelligence from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1987).
His research interests include Artificial Intelligence techniques, Logic Programming, the use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education and e-learning
He teaches courses on Programming Methodologies, Data Structures, Artificial Intelligence and Distance Learning.
As National Coordinator of the Directives 2005/36/EC and 2013/55/EU, he participated in the Group of Coordinators for the Recognition of Professional Qualifications, which functions in the context of DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW). He was also member of the European Qualifications Framework Advisory Group, which functions in the context of DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL).
He acted as President of the Council of Higher Technological Education (SATE) and member of the Central Board of the National Organisation for the Certification of Qualifications & Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP).

Professor Aristotelis Kazakopoulos
Dean of the School of Technological Applications
Professor at the department of Information and Electronics Engineering
KazakopoulosAristotelis was born in Thessaloniki in 1956. In 1973, following successful entrance examinations, he entered the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. He followed the direction of Electrical Engineering and graduated in 1978 with grade 7.7. From 1981 to 1986 he worked as scientific collaborator at the Department of Electronics at ATEI Thessaloniki and also as a free lancer electrical and mechanical engineer. From1986 to 1989 he worked as an instructor at the Greek Secondary Technical Education. In 1989 he was elected Laboratoty Professor at the Department of Electronics at the ATEI of Thessaloniki and in 1993 Assistant professor at the same department. From 1996 to 2000 he was head of the Department of Electronics of ATEI of Thessaloniki. In June 2010 he received a ph degree from the Department of Physics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in ‘Ionic Conductivity of solid electrolytes’. In February 2012 he was elected Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics of ATEI Thessalonki. He taught Electronics III, Power Electronics, Microcontrollers I,II, Applications of Microcontrollers, Communication Networks, Electric Measurements, Electronic Physics, Microwaves, Digital Circuits I, Mass media I,II, Architecture of Computer Systems. In September2014 he was elected Head of the Department of Electronics at ATEI Thessssaloniki. From September 2014 until November 2017 he was the head of the Department of Electronics at ATEI Thessaloniki. From September 2016 he became first degree professor at the Department of Electronics of ATEI Thessssaloniki. From September 2019 he is Dean of the Faculty of Engineers at International Hellenic University.

Professor Athanasios Mitropoulos
Member of the Governing Board of the IHU
Prof. A. Ch. Mitropoulos studied Chemistry at the University of Thessaloniki (BSc/1983) and Physical Chemistry at the University of Bristol (MSc/1985, PhD/1990) under a research grant from Shell Petroleum. In 1991 he served as an advisor to the Minister of Trade and Industry. In 1993 he joined National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos”. In 1998 he was appointed Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Kavala Institute of Technology and in 2008 he was elected President of the same Institute. After merging of KavTech with the International Hellenic University (2019) he became faculty member in the Department of Chemistry and Dean of the Faculty of Science. Prof. Mitropoulos specializes on the characterization of nanoporous materials and membranes with in-situ techniques of adsorption and small angle x-ray scattering. He has more than 100 publications, he is the author of many books, 4 patents and he is running more than 1M€ research programs mainly from private funds.

Professor Evridiki Zachopoulou
Dean of the School of Social Sciences
Evridiki Zachopoulou is Professor of Music & Movement Education at the Department of Early Childhood Care & Education and Dean of the School of Social Sciences at International Hellenic University, in Greece. She was a faculty member at the Democritus University of Thrace, and she has many years of teaching experience in postgraduate study programmes in various Universities (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Hellenic Open University, Democritus University of Thrace, among others). Her research has focused on: (a) creativity in teaching and the creative child, (b) professional development of early childhood educators, (c) evaluation of the quality of early childhood education, and (d) implementation of physical education programs for preschoolers and their effects on children’s development. She has published over 65 papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and has more than 120 presentations at World Conferences. The quality of her research output can be ascertained by the citations to her work which raises over 1.320 citations and her h-index is 20. She has published two books at world-renowned publishing companies (Human Kinetics – USA, Palgrave Macmillan – UK), and four chapters in collective volumes, such as Contemporary Perspectives on Research in Educational Assessment and Evaluation in Early Childhood Education (Charlotte, NC: Information Age Publishing). Since 2000, she has coordinated, supported and participated in funding research totaling around 3.000.000€, such as ‘THALES PROJECT: Enhancement of the Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation with the potentiality to invite high profile researchers from abroad through the conduct of basic and applied research excellence’ (Funding: Operational Programme «Education and Lifelong Learning» and co-financed from the European Union – European Social Fund). She has organized training seminars and workshops for early educators in various European countries and she has been invited speaker to many international conferences. She is also member of the Editorial board in several international journal, and member of the Advisory Boards at International and European Conferences (EDULEARN 2014 – International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies, etc.).
