He completed his basic legal studies at the University of Athens. In 1995, he received his Ph.D. from the same University. In 1999, he published the postdoctoral study Life with no Face. The Constitution and the Use of Human Genetic Material (A. N. Sakkoulas Publ., 2nd ed. \u2013 2003). In 2017 he completed a study under the general title Biolaw (vol. 1, \u201cThe Person\u201d, vol. 2, \u201cFrom Biodiversity to Intelligent Machines\u201d), (Sakkoulas Publ.). He is also the author of more than 40 academic papers on bioethics, biolaw, constitutional law, philosophy of law, sociology of law and environmental law. He contributed to the ratification process of the Oviedo Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine and to the constitutional revision of 2001 (in the field of \u201cnew rights\u201d). He has presented numerous papers at international and national conferences, workshops, and academic seminars. Senior investigator in international and national research projects, concerning especially issues of law and new technologies. Independent expert of the European Commission in ethical reviews of biomedical and biotechnology research projects (FPs, Horizon 2020, ERC). In 2001 he was elected a senior scientist and legal advisor of the Hellenic National Bioethics Commission. He teaches \u201cBioethics and Law\u201d at the University of Crete (interdisciplinary PGP in Bioethics).
