instructions as above.<\/li>\n<li><strong>If you are just not feeling well and you think you need to see a doctor or visit a hospital right away,<\/strong> you should:\n<ul>\n<li>Call\u00a0<strong>14944 (Greek only)\u00a0or\u00a011888 or 11850 or 11880 (English and Greek)<\/strong>\u00a0from local or mobile phone to find out which\u00a0<strong>hospital\u00a0<\/strong>is\u00a0<strong>currently on-duty<\/strong>\u00a0for your medical situation. You could also call\u00a0<strong>166\u00a0<\/strong>(ambulance service) if you need additional medical advice for your situation (in Greek &amp; most probably English too). Then, go to the hospital&#8217;s EMERGENCY (EPEIGONTA) or OUTPATIENTS Department (EXOTERIKA IATREIA).<\/li>\n<li>You may also consider calling a private doctor on duty (if outside usual office hours) for that day. You will have to pay an extra charge for a visit at home. A list of these doctors is also given on 14944 (Greek only) or at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.isth.gr\/?efimerires\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.isth.gr\/?efimerires<\/a>\u00a0(also Greek only).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>In case of 1 or 2 above<\/strong>,\u00a0If your situation requires further hospitalisation,\u00a0PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL OFFICE\u00a0at the earliest possible convenience at 2310 807523 or 2310 807500 during working hours (08:00 &#8211; 15:00).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is usually obvious when emergency care is needed for serious injury or illness.\u00a0<em>An emergency is a critical or life-threatening situation such as: Loss of consciousness, sever loss of blood, suspected broken bones, persistent chest pain for 15 minutes or more, difficulty breathing, overdose, ingestion of toxic substance or poisoning.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you are helping somebody in such a situation remember to keep calm, do everything you can to help the person, but don&#8217;t put yourself in danger and don&#8217;t give the person anything to eat, drink or smoke.<\/p>\n<p>Unless you need urgent medical attention try to avoid local hospital emergency departments. For an appointment, select a hospital and call. Appointments may be booked for up to three months ahead depending on the medical specialty, thus this is really a solution for non-urgent medical problems. If you are required to make more examinations and tests, you must follow the procedures set by your insurance coverage.<\/li>\n<li>For general medical cases, you can visit the THERMI HEALTH CENTRE located close to IHU campus 24 hours a day.<\/li>\n<li>Visit a private doctor (without a contract with the Greek civil service insurance). However, nationals from non-EU countries cannot use their EHIC for medical treatment in Denmark, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and\u00a0Switzerland.<\/div>\n<div>For more information on European Health Insurance Card, please click <a id=\"OWA7716083d-6b72-f6ae-6574-6e998d4d6717\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/social\/main.jsp?catId=563&amp;langId=en#nationalinfo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> here<\/a>.<\/div>\n<h4 class=\"elementToProof\"><b>Health insurance policy cover in order to apply for a residence permit<\/b><\/h4>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Please note that among the requirements to apply for the issuance of a residence permit or its extension is the possession of a health insurance policy, the benefits of which (based on Ministerial Decision No. 53821\/2014\/21.10.2014) must include:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Hospital care coverage in a Public Hospital: \u20ac10,000 per year with 20% participation by the insured.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Insurance of Permanent Total and Partial Disability due to Accident: \u20ac15,000 per year with 20% participation of the insured.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Medical expenses due to illness or accident: \u20ac1,500 per year with 20% participation of the insured.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The contract must clearly state that the insurance covers the amounts set by the law\/ministerial decision and it must be expressly stated that it covers anything that happens to you in the EU and specifically in Greece.<\/div>\n<div>If you have an insurance policy from your country of origin, you can submit it officially translated as long as it provides the above coverages.
