Aims
The aim of the course is to give the participants a connectional framework and a theoretical understanding for innovation and entrepreneurship with knowledge on how to develop ideas and commercialisation in theory and practice. The framing of the course gives the students important contacts within industry, organisations and the public sector.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Communicate with an entrepreneurial perspective
- Demonstrate theoretical knowledge about how medical innovations can be developed from idea to practical application
- Demonstrate an understanding and knowledge in law, regulation, patent, financing and strategy for science-based companies
- Express an understanding of innovation systems and the relations between different actors
- Argue the advantages and disadvantages of commercialisation
Content
- Innovation and entrepreneurship: clusters of innovation, universities and their relation to entrepreneurship, etc.
- Law and regulations: corporate law, patenting law (European and US perspective)
- Finance: public and private financing of new companies
- Strategy: business planning, collaboration between large and small companies, corporate intelligence, role of boards, human resource management
